Halima Jabulani, Director
Halima Jabulani is serving her second term on the Board of Directors. She became aware of Park Lawn when her daughter Mudiwa was a student at the Elim School. Upon her graduation, Mudiwa enrolled in Park lawn’s Vocational Services Program in October of 2004. Today she works part time at the Vocational Center and part time at Evergreen Doors and Windows through Park Lawn’s Supported Employment Program. Mudiwa is also an active member of the Park Lawn Players performance group.
Halima is a resident of Chicago. She earned both a Bachelor and Masters of Arts Degree from Loyola University of Chicago. She is a long time teacher for the Chicago Board of Education where she has taught many levels of American and English Literature. Halima enjoys attending plays, dance performances and concerts with her family.
She states that her most memorable moment at Park Lawn so far was being contacted by Mudiwa’s case manager and told that she was doing fine at the Vocational Center and would soon have a community job too!
Halima looks forward to her service on Park Lawn’s Board because “it means that I have become part of a real family and along with my daughter we are participating members of that family. We are active, alive and well.”
