Meet Linda...

Linda is a pleasant lady with developmental disabilities. She has resided at Park Lawn Center since 1982. Linda has P.K.U. (Phenylkentonuria), which is a rare metabolic disorder that is characterized by mental retardation and behavioral abnormalities. Linda is enthusiastic and outgoing and enjoys spending time with her family and participating in social activities with her friends at Park Lawn Center. Linda enjoys listening to music, especially Barry Manilow. She has his music memorized and would sing to it 24 hours a day if she could. Linda's sense of humor makes her a pleasure to be around.

Two years ago, Linda underwent a major health change that left her with multiple medical problems. At one time, Linda looked forward to walks in the park and going to dances. Her medical condition makes her weak and fragile and prevents her from doing the things she used to enjoy most. She requires round the clock care for all of her daily needs. She must be lifted and moved by staff to prevent a skin breakdown that could lead to infection. Linda attends the Adult Day Training Program at Park Lawn each morning, five days a week and looks forward to returning home to the Center to relax with friends. Linda will continue to require intense and aggressive care for her medical needs.
